Rendezvous Casino, Brighton Marina Village
Living about halfway between London and Brighton I sometimes get the chance (or inclination!)
to nip down to the London Clubs International property in the Brighton Marina Village,
Rendezvous. The Marina is about 2 miles from central Brighton (taxi or bus!) but worth
the trip out IMO and not just for the casino. So I thought I'd review it for
Slots UK - putting the emphasis on the slots on offer there, of course!
Like most land-based UK casinos Rendezvous doesn't operate online (the exceptions being Grosvenor Casinos and Gala Casino) so if you want to play via the web then I would suggest Ladbrokes for table games like Blackjack and Roulette or Victor Chandler's Spinroom site for slots like "Pharaohs Fortune", "Book Of Ra Deluxe", "Columbus" and "Cleopatra" (see the end of this article for a list of slots available at Rendezvous casino).
One of the coolest aspects of Rendezvous is the valet parking. When you drive down into the Marina, you hook a right at the roundabout and the Rendezvous casino is just around the corner on your left. Just drive up to the entrance and chuck your keys at the valet and in you go. Nice touch :) The staff are really friendly down here too - bit like the staff at the Empire casino in London in fact, another LCI property. Must be a policy.
The casino itself is a very good size for a UK casino - quite a bit bigger than the Gala Casino) with an open-plan downstairs featuring a handful of table games and the poker tables while upstairs is a little smaller but has all 20 slot machines plus table games, a nice bar, restuarant and good Marina views. (20 slots is a restriction of a "regular" UK casino licence unfortunately). There is also a selection of electronic roulette machines in the slots area.
Rendezvous casino now operates an open-door policy but I'd take photo ID and get a Loyalty card - the points add up quick. If you get a big win (in any UK casino) you will normally need photo ID to cash in anyway. It's nowhere near as big as Aspers Casino up in London which has 150 slots and 40 tables but that's one heluva trek!
At the far end when you walk in is a nice bar with 3 big projector screens above it - whenever I have been there they are serving up Sky Sports programmes with the cashier is off to one side. Near the bar is a small but covered outside area for smokers with a couple of tables and chairs. There's a really good feeling of space in Rendezvous in fact.
Bar snacks are available most of the day and are very reasonably priced (I just paid £1 for a toasted cheese and ham sarnie - 21st April, 2012). There is always the MacDonalds about 50 yards away from the casino as an option! Non alcoholic drinks are free while you play (not sure abut alcohol as I don't drink while I am there) and the waitresses I have met are very friendly and quite attentive.
As for the slots, as at Aprl 2012 I saw the following (from memory!): Kitty Glitter, Enchanted Unicorn, Diamond Queen (multi-game machine with L'il Lady, Cats and Pharaohs Fortune), plus GameKing versions of Pharaohs Fortune and Cleopatra (be warned, these both have crap paytables on the Game King slot machines by the way!).
There are two IGT multi-game machines, one with with Arctic Fox, Siberian Storm, Ghost Wilds and Kanga Kash and one with Diamond Queen, Cats, L'il Lady and Pharaoh's Fortune. They also had 3 Cleopatra Fort Knox progressives and a fourth Fort Knox with some thunderstorm type slot under it where the reels tumble in the feature!
There are 6 Novomatic Super V+ Gaminator machines with a mix of game packs including games like Book Of Ra Deluxe, Katana, Dolphins Pearl Deluxe, Rich Witch, Lions, Beetle Mania, Columbus Deluxe, Gryphons Gold, Lucky Lady's Charm and several other games. Lord Of The Ocean among others There was also a Coyote Moon slot.

Very nice casino on the South coast. I'm a fan of the Rendezvous casino on Brighton's marina complex. It's got a really nice feel to it over 2 floors, valet parking and friendly staff. Good choice of games and a decent bar + restaurant and just all-round nice!
